Thames Anglers’ Conservancy helps to keep a popular reach open for anglers
The Thames Anglers Conservancy has been working hard over the last 2-months to ensure that one of the popular free stretches of the lower Thames remain open for all anglers.
As reported in our news section on the 21st September, a local petition had been raised following an ongoing litter problem.
The TAC put the area on one of the regular patrols and cleaned the banks and foreshore each week. In addition signs were put up to remind people of the local byelaws and to respect what we all have for free. Along with this we took the opportunity to engage with anglers and locals residents, dogwalkers and the council.
A TAC official attended the Residents Associtaion meeting making the case for anglers and presenting the work that we had done. We were roundly thanked for our actions and the free fishing rights have been secured. In addition the litter bins that had been removed are to be reinstated.
It is the responsibily of all anglers to make sure we protect our fishing rights and not to leave litter or ignore local rules.
